Graduation week is also called “June Week”. For the Class of 1969 it began on Wednesday, May 28th and ended after graduation ceremonies on Wednesday, June 4th.  Kendra was present along her family.  My mother and father were also present for at least a portion of the week.  See Appendices 7-9.

During the awards to cadets ceremony, I did receive a watch for finishing first in rank of those taking Portuguese.  Unfortunately, the watch disappeared at some time over the years.

Bob Hope spoke at the graduation banquet.

The Graduation ceremonies were held at the football stadium or Michie Stadium.  My parents were able to attend along with Kendra and her family.

The graduation speaker was General William Westmoreland, commander of US forces in Viet Nam.  Most cadets were disappointed that the President of the United States, Richard M. Nixon, was not the speaker.  The ceremony concluded with the usual toss of our white caps into the air.
